Heading for the Trenches

Now that the dust has settled, its time to look back and introspect. In democracy, the voice of majority speaks. So what, if the voice is a disenfranchised working class who is assumed to be uneducated, racist, misogynist etc., it doesn't matter. It has been heard.

The real issue is, are the winners being taken for a jolly good ride? Their leader in this case is a classic deal-maker, who would sell his mother(and/or country) to win a deal. The "deal" in this case was President-ship. Having successfully used war rousing rhetoric's of "build a wall", "bring back the jobs", "stop the refugees", "rigged election", "drain the swamp" etc., soon it will be time to deliver.

There are a lot of things that needs to be fixed. The healthcare system is in a mess, ISIS/Terrorism is at a boiling point, jobs need to be created, race relations improved, immigration issues handled etc. Hopefully, we will see some new perspective in these areas & not in the jingoistic pre-election tone.

So are we really going to build a costly, impractical wall, dissolve NATO, penalize outsourcing, jail opponents, kick out immigrants, stop refugees?
Change is good, can lead to transformation, innovation & creation. But it can also push us to destruction & annihilation. It is up to the new leadership to decide the path forward. Till that time we need to hold our breath & head for the trenches.

Luckily for us, the basic rule of demagoguery, is that you change your tune, to suit the audience. So now it's time to sing the national anthem!
